Hot Water in Twin Waters: Local Conditions That Change the Job

Twin Waters began as a 1987 resort proposal; clearing started in 1988 and the five-star resort opened in November 1990 at a cost of around $130 million, with 374 rooms. The residential canal estate followed, created in 1996 and built out in stages into the early 2000s by Lend Lease, mostly canal-front or resort-style, making this genuinely a planned community of one era rather than an older, incrementally built suburb. Twin Waters was split off from Mudjimba and gazetted as its own suburb on 9 May 2003.
The suburb sits at only about five metres' elevation, bounded by the Maroochy River to the south and the Coral Sea beyond. The Maroochy River Conservation Park, established in 1992, adjoins the estate. Canal-front and waterway-adjacent homes face a genuine, if moderate, corrosion pressure from humid and brackish air, less aggressive than open-ocean salt spray, but enough to shorten the life of fittings and mounting hardware over a decade if left unserviced.
Gas is unchanged from the rest of the coast: no reticulated natural gas, so gas hot water systems run on LPG bottles. RCM Hot Water treats canal-front Twin Waters properties with the same care given to true beachfront suburbs, while recognising the exposure here is genuinely different in degree.
