Hot water beside the lake and the beach

Currimundi covers 3.6 km² around Currimundi Lake, a saltwater lake beside Currimundi Beach that Nicklin Way crosses on the Ahern Bridge. Kathleen McArthur Conservation Park lies north of the lake. The 2021 Census counted 6,570 residents, and 81.8% of occupied homes are separate houses averaging 3.3 bedrooms. A typical hot water system in Currimundi supplies a whole family house.
Units mounted outside within reach of the beach and lake sit in salty, humid air, which is hard on fittings, valve bodies and heat pump fins. With about 2.5 people per household, an undersized tank runs cold before the last shower. Townhouses, at 16.6% of homes, often have tight side passages that make moving a bulky tank slower.
Around 38.8% of homes are owned outright and 33.8% are mortgaged, so most residents pay for their own hot water replacement and live with the result for years. Picking the right size and type, rather than the quickest unit to hand, keeps running costs and later repairs down.
He starts with the fault, checks access and where the tank sits, then gives options in plain terms. For the one home in four that is rented, he can deal with the owner or agent directly. Where heat pump hot water makes sense, he explains how the unit copes with coastal air and where it should go.
