Hot Water in Doonan: Local Conditions That Change the Job

Doonan sits between Noosa and Eumundi, immediately south of Tewantin, and is genuinely hilly terrain: Lone Tree Hill rises to 210 metres and Mitchell Hill to 140, giving the locality real elevation change across individual properties, not just between streets. Formally named in the early 1990s, land use remains dominated by rural residential and rural zoning, with large acreage lots now genuinely scarce after years of further subdivision. Population has grown steadily, from just 45 residents in 1921 to 3,727 by the 2021 census.
Bushfire risk here is real, not assumed: much of the locality is rural-residential land set against bushland, and Doonan is served by its own Rural Fire Brigade. On the water side, the rural-residential character means rainwater tanks and, on some properties, bores supplement or replace town supply altogether.
Gas remains unchanged from the rest of the hinterland: no reticulated natural gas, so gas hot water systems run on LPG bottles. RCM Hot Water checks water source, access and bushfire exposure before recommending any system on a Doonan property.
